LatinvaX – An Equity-Focused COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at La Sierra de Aurora Banquets

On March 19th, LatinvaX was held at La Sierra de Aurora Banquets, who generously opened their doors to help their community. In this collaboration with the City of Aurora and Aurora’s faith-based community, VNA Health Care staff vaccinated almost 600 members of the community over the course of the day. Present to lend their support were Illinois State Representative Barbara Hernandez and from the City of Aurora, Mayor Richard C. Irvin, Alderman Emmanuel Llamas and Alderwoman Juany Garza.

Mayor Irvin commended VNA Health Care for their delivery of life-saving COVID-19 vaccinations in an equitable process. This is especially important, as the Latin-American community has been among one of the hardest hit by COVID-19. As the Latinx community has a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 and is at increased risk of health disparities, it is essential to make sure that the community is protected. In a bilingual message to the community, Representative Hernandez reiterated that it is vital that local residents are vaccinated as soon as possible in order to avoid severe illness or death due to COVID-19.
